New to Coast Hills

A warm and friendly atmosphere is what you will find as you step through the doors of Coast Hills Baptist Church of Santa Maria, California. Our church was established in 1977 with 23 charter members. The growing membership met in various locations until they found their home in a beautiful setting along Rice Ranch Road on almost nine acres in Old Orcutt around 1982.

Bud Silva, a former pastor and evangelist, was called to be out pastor in 1986. He and his wife Sandy and their family have faithfully served their church family and the community all these years.

Coast Hills has always believed in touching the community, and one ministry that has exemplified that through the years is the bus ministry. Each week, our church buses roll out into the community to provide transportation to and from church for children and families in need. We often meet adults today who remember riding to church on the buses as young children.

As the church family expanded and the needs grew, other ministries were established. They now have an expanded children’s ministry, a dynamic teen department, and many adult Bible classes and fellowships. Child care is provided so parents can enjoy any of the services, and Spanish translation of the services is available through hearing devices.

A church like Coast Hills is hard to find. Just ask Rod and Kathy Peterson, members who commute to church over 30 miles one way from Solvang. Still not convinced? Ask Joel and Shalom Behm who commuted with their family over 60 miles one way from Paso Robles for a year before relocating to Old Orcutt to become more active members.
